So I am wanting to be fluent in Spanish (working retail in Texas is helping that process), and I'd like to further immerse myself by listening to Spanish-language music. I've been tuning my car radio to Spanish stations, but I'm not getting much music I would otherwise listen to.

I have found an indie-rock kind of band I'm liking so far, courtesy YouTube -- Aventuras de Kirlian. They were active in the '80s, according to Wikipedia.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm thinking there are some native-speaking members of RKnet, if I remember correctly.

Oh, no, I'm not limiting it just to indie. Good hip-hop would be great. I'm open to anything, really, that sounds different from what I usually hear on Spanish radio. So far, other bands I have found via YouTube include:

-Papa Topo (indie-ish)
-Soda Stereo (older stuff: new waveish)
-Belanova (electro-pop)
-Moenia (electro-pop)
-La Barranca (alt rock)
-Bacilos (has a more mainstream pop sound, and actually I heard them on Sirius XM, not YouTube)

I can't remember the band, but there's this cool song called "Déjalo" that has a mix of Spanish and English lyrics. You might like it. (I'm really sorry, just being silly.) Wink

I do remember hearing a band called Los Abandoned who sang songs in "Spanglish".

Van Nuys (Es Very Nice)

The bands people suggested sound fun, I'll have to look into more to brush up on my Spanish.
