Post subject: RK Lyric Mistakes |
|
|
I vaguely remember a topic like this but I searched it and got nothing.
A friend and I have an inside joke about funny lyric mistakes and I was curious if anyone had any funny lyric mistakes for Rilo Kiley songs. I have a bunch but the only one I can remember right now is
Original lyric: "Even dead mean lie in their coffins"
Mistake lyric: "We've been dipped in lining and cobwebs"
I think I'm gonna start a topic like this in the music section for general songs. _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. |

I can't believe I forgot this one.
We'll Never Sleep (God Knows We'll Try) is my number 1 RK song. And when I first heard it I thought she was saying:
"We circle urine. Kool's parking lot." And I thought she was pronouncing it like "yer-UHN". But obviously the real lyric is "we circle your uncle's parking lot." But the way she says uncle is broken up so I thought it was 2 different words. I thought it was pretty funny lol.
Also in Glendora, I thought she was saying "I left my Converse at the bus stop in Duarte." as opposed to prom dress. But that was only because I looked up the lyrics and thats what it said.
And then in The Good That Won't Come Out, I thought she was saying "cause they make you sterile still" instead of "stay real still". And I figured since she was talking about a doctor on that part, it made sense.
(I made this topic because I frequently hear wrong lyrics as you can see, so I must rely on sites like letssingit.com) _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. |

I like to know the exact lyrics to every song I like so I normally look them up instead of try to figure them out by myself. I must admit though, it does happen sometimes. But instead of making up what I think the lyric is if I can't figure it out, it usually just comes out as a bunch of jibberish. So I can't think of any funny ones. All I know is that I've had most of the real lyrics right since I started listening to them which makes things a lot less fun when a cool thread like this one comes up.

One of my friends used to think "we'll all be portions for foxes" was "we'll all be portions for fucks sake" (this despite her knowing the title of the song). And for the longest time after she mentioned that, it was all I could hear. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ligeres |

Wow, this thread is so enlightening. I, too, up until now, thought it was "converse at the bus stop" and "sterile still." And I happen to like those versions better than the real ones, haha. _________________ happiness is not a fish that you can catch. |

Now I don't feel so dumb because I when I found out it was actually "stay real still" I felt like an idiot, so knowing other people heard this makes me not feel so dumb haha.
Also, I gather that the lyric "stay real still" would make more sense because the following lyrics go "in a real small space as they chart up your insides and put them on display". So I'm assuming she's referring to getting an x-ray done. I've never gotten an x-ray but from what ive heard, you go into this machine and you're supposed to be as still as possible.
I just remembered another RK lyric mistake (I have tons so I'll be posting for a while as I periodically remember them), in Spectacular Views, during Jenny's faint singing at the end of the song, the part where she sings "I think we'll go out to the palisade, where the sea is pushing on sand." I thought she was saying "You're golder now than a palisade, where the season's fishing on sand." I tried for so long to decipher those lyrics and thanks to Gav, I now know them _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. | In Accidntel Deth, I thought she said "then tripped over some roots or some debris" when I first heard the song, so I think that now whenever I listen to the song, even though I know it's "dead trees" and not "debris." |

A few weeks ago I was listening to a 7" that has a different (slower) version of the song "Old Timer" by that dog.
The original lyric is, "got your chilli, don't forget your cornbread" and I've been singing "got your tray, don't forget your cornbread"
They skip over the word quite fast in the later album version, and it wasn't until I heard the old version that I began hearing it correctly. It only took me nine years or so. _________________ My username is apexsensation. But you can call me Jason if you'd like.

There was a ton for me in Spectacular Views.
I used to think it was "Misty cliffs, rocks all piled up". and "and you ask, 'whats the policy?' and if we're 'too late for happiness'?". _________________ There is nothing stopping you, there is nothing stopping me. So let that beat control your body baby! |

In "We'll Never Sleep" where she sings "...I don't wanna go..." I thought she was saying "I wanna throw up" for awhile. Which didn't make any sense, but at the time I only had it on my ipod and had no internet access so I didn't get to figure it out until after I got home and looked it up here. _________________ Rise up children, life goes on and on
