+It's Rilo Kiley. No band has been along with me for as much of the ride as Jason, Jenny, Blake, & Pierre.
+Hot damn if these songs don't stick in my head

-Back singers plus horn section plus a new 'style' for every track: whither cohesion?
-Jenny & Blake used to tell stories. Now Jenny repeats an empty line and we call it a chorus (see Tracks 2,3,4,9,11).
-Actually, I'm not entirely sure it is Rilo Kiley. Maybe WB accidentally released tracks by some trashy, overproduced, sultry-female-fronted commercial group instead? Please?

I say: 2.

My vote goes

+ Rilo Kiley of course
+ lyrics that stick in my head ( like everything Dreamworld, 'my mom is an atheist / if I stay out late, she don't get pissed' , 'does your daddy have a shotgun?')
+ guitar, horns, sultry beats, backup singers
+ the entire concept of the album

- not enough blake

= 4

Too bad I can't just type emoticons at people in real life instead of having to actual string words together. ;] I mean... Wink

I said 4. The only song I actually dislike is The Moneymaker. All the rest I'm really enjoying.

Silver Lining - Ee!
Close Closet - Ooh.
Money Maker - Mmm.
Breakin' Up - Hum..!
Under the Blacklight - Ehh..
Dreamworld - Ahhh.
Dejalo - Weee.
15 - Meh.
Smoke Detector - Woo.
The Angels Hung Around - Bleh.
Give a Little Love - Blarghaslfjaksfs.

Okay. These songs become catchier each time, that's where it gets props. Simplistic lyrics are kind of annoying, but I just need to lose the mindset of deep lyrics from RK. Oh, and not enough B-man lovin'.

Verdict? 3.

Silver lining - decent track
Close call - like this
The moneymaker - yeah decent track, bit repetative
Breakin up - upto the chorus its alright, but then it lost me
Under the blacklight - yeah like this
Dreamworld - Yep, good track
Dejalo - hmm, no sorry just not grabbing me.
15 - its not doing much for me really.
Smoke detector - that first verse, oh dear. Still i like the music to it.
The angels hung around - yeah this is cool
Give a little love - well its quirky i guess, not sure if thats good or not.

Does anyone feel she is repeating herself in lyrics at times, some bits of songs feel very like previous tracks. Overall its an ok album but i cant see me listening to it like i have done the previous 3. Still love Execution the most.

2.5 is what id like to have voted but i rounded to 3.

Pains me to say, but on first listen I can hear none of the emotional depth that drew us to RK on the first three albums. And indeed, none of the emotional depth of Rabbit Fur Coat. Still, I'm very open to be swayed by hearing the songs live tonight.

Oh, and Dejalo sounds like Gloria Estefan.

I can't listening to anything after Dreamworld, because it all seems so awful in comparison.

I just laughed obnoxiously loud at the previous two posts...

I really only like Dreamworld and Close Call. I agree with what Matt.p said. I'm almost positive that the live show will make me like some of the album a little more.

I say 2.

Silver Lining - Favourite Very Happy
Close Call - More recognisable as a RK track. Very Happy
The Moneymaker - Has grown on me. Confused
Breakin' Up - Like it a lot, (But I don't like the backing singers on this track - they don't seem to fit in.) Smile
Under the Blacklight - I don't like it... Sad
Dreamworld - It's alright.. seems to drag on a little. Confused
Dejalo - I can dance to this. Which proves I like it. (backing singers again though) Smile
15 - The 'Ooooonly' is really going to nark me off after a while. Sad
Smoke Detector - I can dance to this too... Very Happy
The Angels Hung Around - I like this a hell of a lot! Very Happy
Give a Little Love - Didn't like at first, but I do now. Smile

Overall... a 3. Due to the standards of the last albums. Very Happy

Absolutely not! I love both. 15 is my second favorite track on the whole album. Very Happy

I gave it a 4 because I dislike Dejalo to the point where I'm actually skipping it completely now. And notenoughblake.

Silver Lining - I like it, good arrangement, but too repetitive. An actual bridge would've been nice. 3

Close Call - awesome guitar riff, but that's about it. Again too repetitive. 3

The Moneymaker - If it was an instrumental I'd like it. Great riff, but Jenny's singing/moaning/lyrics are terrible. 2

Breakin' Up - A little discoey for my taste, and the backup singers are terrible, but there is just too much synthy goodness in this song for me to not like it. 4

Under The Blacklight - Awesome, awesome song. 5

Dreamworld - Totally sweet, great guitar throughout, love it. 5

Dejalo - I'm finding it hard to describe how much I hate this song. It sounds like a cross between disco, the macarena, and every non-Smashmouth song I've ever hated. The only redeeming bit is the guitar solo, which actually makes me dislike it more because they wasted it on this song I'm never going to listen to again. -10

15 - I actually really like this song, despite the subject matter. I'm not usually a huge fan of horns, but they work well here. 4

Smoke Detector - Lyrics are terrible, but I enjoy the music, and nice solo. 3

The Angels Hung Around - Its catchy, but nothing stands out about it really. 3

Give a Little Love - I really should hate this song more than I do since its pure 90's/00's bubblegum, but I don't. Still, I don't like it either. 2

Overall score: 2.5, but rounded to 3 for the purposes of this thread.
