Post subject: Perks made into a movie..?? |
|
|
i was asked the other day if i thought The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky should be made into a movie, and the first thing that popped into my head is yes, but then after careful consideration, i changed my mind completely. Perks has obviously become a cult favorite especially in our generation just because it's so well written and easy to relate to. The first time i picked up Perks, i couldnt put it down. i read it the whole way through in one day, and loved it. Since then, i've read it 3 times since then, and there's no way that Perks can be made into a movie. the story itself is not meant to put you in the surroundings of Charlie, but to go inside Charlie's head and read what he feels and understand his emotion. What makes the whole book unique is the fact that Charlie is writing his whole life to a stranger and a movie could never depict it. Personally, i thought that the book itself was more entertaining and it didnt feel like i was reading a book, but experiencing someone else's pain and triumph and that was enough for me, i dont need it to be acted out..[/color]what do you guys thing about Perks being made into a movie? _________________ tiredness fuels empty thoughts |

Wes Anderson is my first choice of director, if it were to be made.
I'm thinking about turning "brave new girl" (along the same vein as Perks, but about a girl named doreen (it's put out my MtV books as well)) into a movie, but just for my own pleasure. It's too much hassle to get permission and whatnot. it'll probably just be me adapting the script and casting people i know. but it will be great. and that way i can have a movie of it that stays true to the story. _________________ http://www.purevolume.com/thealpine100s

Wow Brave New Girl would make an awesome movie I think.
But definately not Perks Of Being A Wallflower. My friend made me read it and I fell in love with the book instantly. Honestly, I think a movie-fied version would just ruin the whole thing. |

| Perks is one of my favorite books. I don't think it would make a good movie, however. |

i'm probably filming this summer, and if any of you are in town, i'd be happy to have a screening or send you a copy. _________________ http://www.purevolume.com/thealpine100s

Perks should NOT be made into a movie. Like someone said earlier, it's about the things that happen in Charlie's head not what happens to him in day to day life.
However, I think if they are going to do it then Wes Anderson is the absolute only person that can possibly do it. _________________ ...did you forget that yellow bird? |
