I was re-reading The Handmaid's Tale by Atwood and came across a part that said Flesh is grass, and in context it sounded like a quotation. Lo, it is from the Bible. Isaiah 40:6. (See King James Version.)
OUR SKIN IS LIKE GRASS LET'S SMOKE IT REAL FA-AST.
Maybe that's where she got that. Also of course we know about Psalm 63:1.
I wonder if Jenny Lewis has written other Bible verses into lyrics. I wonder if someday a divinity school student will write an exegesis of them all. |

Don't you mean psalms 63-10 for PFF?
Her lyrics are riddled with religious references, so there's bound to be more. |
