We were supposed to be on a cruise through the Caribbean right now. We canceled because of my mom's health (which: by the way, she's doing a lot better right now) so instead my sister came here and tomorrow we're all going up to Green Bay for the Packers game. So the opposite end of the spectrum from a cruise, but awesome nonetheless.

For about the 25th year in a row we have no NYE plans. A couple of memories though.
I was such a non-player that I was at a party and was terrified that I would end up under the mistletoe with a girl and 'supposed' to kiss her. I mean bone shaking terrified.
One time about 30 of us were out on the street with nowhere to go, so I called my mom and she spontaneously said we could party at my house.
We lined up every beer on the mantleplace.
My wife and I once dressed up in college where we wore formal clothing on the top and just undergarments below. We got a lot of attention.
Those are my unspectacular stories. Anyone have some good ones or plans for this year?

No plans this year, unless my friend in StL gets back to me and I end up going down there at the last minute. I'm usually not big on going out on NYE, since it's usually all about drinking and I'm not much of a drinker.
The one year I really went out and did it up big I still don't usually tell people about. I can't remember if it was 2000 or 2001, but my friends/roommates and I went out to dinner, and we were staking out tables at our favorite bar by about 7:00. We drank steadily until they closed at 1:00, and then we went next door to another bar that was open 'til 3:00. When that bar closed, we got invited to an after party by some complete strangers, and their place was only about a block away, which under normal circumstances we could have walked to it in about a minute, but one of my friends and I stood on the corner outside the bar forever trying to figure out which way to go. A cop, who was also standing on the same corner, actually rolled his eyes at us, which we found so funny that my friend literally laughed until she fell down, and her boss happened to walk by while I was hauling her up, and she (my friend) yelled at her (her boss), "Hey, Jen! How are ya, ya big whore!?!" That's not everything, but those are the funny bits that I feel like sharing.
i had no plans for tomorrow until about 5 minutes ago. I'm stuck downsouth where I have few friends...my friend Dean is bartending a party until around midnight, so I'm taking a train downtown to meet up with him at around midnight, then drinking, then i'll come home. meh. better than being home alone. The boy is working (he's a bartender) all night...i was debating if i should show up there unannounced prior to meeting Dean...but I'm not sure if thats a good idea...We may hangout tomorrow during the day, so maybe I'll mention to him what my plans are and see what he says... _________________ "oh no! jabba is going to choose jenny lewis for his wife. I have to work tomorrow night. We did the shifts for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve by seniority, so I got stuck with dinner both nights. I have an early in time tomorrow which means I should be first cut, but I know we have a lot of reservations. It just sucks because then I'm going all the way downtown to meet up with a friend of mine and I really don't want to get out super late, especially since last year I did literally nothing for NYE since I was jetlagged and it's actually like my favorite holiday so I want it to be good this year. It'll probs be my last NYE in Chicago. _________________ Change has a way of just walking up and punching me in the face.

Right now it looks like I'll be there in September. So I have until the end of July to save up ALL THE MONEY and then August for stunt school, and then I will be there and all we will need is for Emily to come to Southern California to make my dream literally come true.

Nice but if you had tried for July i could have hooked you up with Community Panel passes at comic con!
I died a little when i saw a huge line for Glee at comic con. I didn't know that it was actually for Doctor who which followed Glee. But i made it to the community and Joss whedon! something I'm looking forward to in 2012 is definitely Doctor Horrible 2! _________________ “Does a man ever tire of looking at the sunrise…when he's balls deep in Kevin?”

Good luck, Miss Shannon. I hope you save enough to live comfortably when you get here. I'm sure you'll have a blast. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

Emily:
YES MOVE TO L.A. Seriously, that would be a LITERAL dream come true.
Also, my plans didn't happen tonight either. The rumor was that my restaurant is dead New Year's Eve, so I was all set to drive down to the city after I got cut and meet a friend at a bar...then didn't get out of work until a quarter past eleven. At midnight I was in my car driving home.

New Year's turned out to be a family party followed by steak and lobster in downtown L.A. with fellow revelers at 2:30 a.m., which is probably the weirdest meal to have that early in the morning. But I did get to cross off Pacific Dining Car off my to-eat list. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

So did anyone else listen to Glendora or Troubadour in honor of New Years? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask anyway. _________________ Beauty fades. Dumb is forever.

Damn it all, I should have tried this while I was there. Crab Benedict is such an interesting classic on a classic. How could I have missed it? _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."
